President Barzani and Russian Ambassador to Iraq discuss regional developments
ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani and the Russian Ambassador to Iraq discussed regional developments, recent changes and the dangers of the resurgence of terrorism.
President Barzani received, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, at the Salahaddin Resort.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Maxim Rubin, the Russian Consul General in Erbil, the Russian Ambassador congratulated President Barzani on the successful elections of the Kurdistan Parliament. He stressed that the peaceful holding of the elections with wide public participation is a significant achievement for the Kurdistan Region.
The discussion also touched on the political processes in the region, including steps to form the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi Federal Government, as well as broader regional developments and the risks of a resurgence of terrorism, were also key topics of the meeting.
