ARK News.. According to the Normandy Peace Index for 2024, Syria topped the list of the most threatening and least stable countries in the world.

According to a study issued by the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) in cooperation with the Institute for Economics and Peace (Normandy Peace Index) on September 9, 2024, Syria topped the list of the most threatening and least stable countries in the world.

According to the study, the level of threats to peace, security and democracy in Syria is the highest since the beginning of the index in 2019.

According to the study, the war that has been ongoing since 2011 continues to inflict severe damage on Syria on the humanitarian and economic levels, with the death toll exceeding half a million people, while millions have been displaced both inside and outside Syria.

The study pointed out that more than 90% of the population also suffers from extreme poverty amid rampant inflation and high living costs.

The study added that one of the most important factors that contributed to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria was the February 2023 earthquake, which exacerbated the economic and social crises.
