ARK News.. A delegation from UNICEF, accompanied by the Syrian Red Cross, and military vehicles belonging to the Russian forces headed to the Alok station east of Sari Kaniye city, for the second time in a few days.

Local sources said that a delegation from UNICEF, accompanied by the Syrian Red Cross, visited the Alok station east of Sari Kaniye city in Syrian Kurdistan on Monday, September 16, 2024.

According to the source, the aim of the inspection visit is to work on returning the station to service and supplying the city of Hasaka and its countryside with drinking water.

On September 13, the same committee visited the Alok station under Russian sponsorship, and the station witnessed a significant deterioration in its infrastructure as a result of thefts and sabotage that affected cables, pipes and pumps.

The last shutdown of the station was in October of last year, which had a major negative impact on the residents of Hasaka city.

In the Human Rights Watch World Report 2024, it said that the ongoing water conflict between Turkey and the PYD administration in 2019 put the right of about one million people to obtain water in the city of Hasaka and the surrounding areas at risk.
