Deir Ez-Zour: Water cut off in areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces
ARK News.. Several areas in Deir Ez-Zour countryside, controlled by the "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF), have been suffering from water cuts for days due to the cessation of some stations.
Local source from Deir Ez-Zour city said that for several days, areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces have been suffering from a complete water cut off, due to the cessation of some stations from working.
According to the same source, a number of main stations, which supply residential areas and vital facilities with water, such as the towns of Hajin, Al-Sha’fa, Al-Baghoz and Al-Tayyana, have stopped working in the past few days.
According to the source, the stations stopped due to the lack of fuel needed to operate them and the absence of electricity, which forced residents to search for alternative sources to obtain potable water.
He stressed that the majority of the population cannot afford the costs of alternative water, which necessitates the provision of fuel to restart the stations.
The water crisis is worsening in Syrian Kurdistan with the rise in temperatures and the continued shutdown of the Alok station since October 2023, as the station is located in the areas controlled by the "National Army" in the countryside of Sari Kaniye in Syrian Kurdistan.
It is noteworthy that the cities and towns of Syrian Kurdistan are facing difficult living conditions and poor services, amid rising prices, widespread unemployment, and low wages, which led to a wave of popular anger that turned into demonstrations and protests in those places and a strike by most owners of public transportation within cities and towns due to the loss of fuel, rising prices, and a shortage in daily allocations.
