ARK News.. The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, inaugurated the British International University in Erbil today, Saturday, September 7, 2024, in a ceremony attended by a number of officials and academic figures.
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government stressed that Kurdistan has young human resources that need to invest in education to ensure a bright future for its generations.
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government stressed that establishing universities with a global standing contributes to developing the capabilities of young people in various fields.
During the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister pointed out the importance of this university in introducing British educational experiences to the Kurdistan Region, which will contribute to raising the level of education and strengthening cultural, scientific and economic relations between the region and the United Kingdom.
He added that Kurdistan has young human resources that need to invest in education to ensure a bright future for its generations, stressing that establishing universities with a global standing contributes to developing the capabilities of young people in various fields.
The President added that scientific research should be a major focus in advancing higher education, explaining that there is a shortage of scientific research in many sectors.
The President explained that this university can be the cornerstone in enhancing research cooperation with the United Kingdom, benefiting from the long-standing British experience in this field.
Finally, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government expressed his hope that all universities and academic centers will play their role and responsibility in facing environmental challenges, stressing the importance of students benefiting from the opportunities provided by this university and other academic institutions to become role models in serving their country.
