Pedersen calls for the release of all forcibly disappeared persons in Syria

ARK News.. The UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Syria affirmed his commitment to pushing for progress on the file of forcibly disappeared persons in Syria.

Geir Pedersen, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Syria, said: "On the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, I call for a large-scale unilateral release, especially of women, children, the elderly and the sick, and I urge all parties to share information with families."

The UN envoy indicated that he met with the families of detainees and missing persons in Syria, who shared "tragic and painful stories and deep frustrations.

He stressed his commitment to pushing for progress on this file, and to communicate and engage closely with all concerned parties.
