ARK News.. After the Federal Supreme Court in Germany approved the decision to sentence Anwar Raslan to life in prison, on charges of committing crimes against humanity, Raslan filed an appeal, but his request was rejected.

The Associated Press reported that the German Federal Court of Justice rejected an appeal filed by the former officer in the Syrian regime's intelligence, Anwar Raslan, against his conviction for overseeing the abuse of detainees in a prison in Syria.

According to the source, the German Federal Court confirmed that it did not find any legal error against the accused, and rejected the “procedural objections” submitted by his lawyers.

Last week, the Federal Supreme Court in Germany upheld the ruling issued by the Koblenz court, sentencing Raslan to life in prison for crimes against humanity.

The judges concluded that the former officer was responsible for interrogations in the intelligence branch known as the “Al-Khatib Branch” in Damascus, or “Branch 251,” where suspected opposition protesters were detained.

Raslan’s trial began on April 23, 2020, on charges of overseeing the killing of 58 people and torturing 4,000 others in the intelligence branch known as the “Al-Khatib Branch” in Damascus, during the period from April 29, 2011 to September 7, 2012.
