Details of the attack by PYD militants on the gathering of the Kurdish National Council
ARK News.. Revolutionary Youth militants attacked the demonstration (gathering) of the Kurdish National Council with sticks and batons in Qamishlo city, and kidnapped a number of members of the presidential body and the General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council, after besieging them in the Council’s office, and many of them were injured.
A source from Qamishlo city in Syrian Kurdistan said that the militants of the Revolutionary Youth Movement affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces, on Monday, July 1, 2024, attacked with sticks and batons the peaceful gathering of the Kurdish National Council that it organized to demand the release of those kidnapped by PYD militants, and against repressive practices in confrontations with freedom of opinion and expression in Qamishlo city, Syrian Kurdistan.
The source added that PYD militants besieged the office of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, and kidnapped members of the presidency of the Kurdish National Council, “Suleiman Oso, Muhammad Ismail, Faisal Youssef, and Ne’mat Dawoud,” and “Abdul Samad Khalaf Biro, and Taher Hassaf,” members of the General Secretariat, “Solin Fathi Kado, the daughter of the kidnapped Fathi Sarhan Kado, and Abdul Salam, who works as an employee in the office of the Kurdish National Council in Qamishlo, were kidnapped. Pointing out that "all those who were kidnapped that day were released shortly after their kidnapping."
After his release, Suleiman Oso, head of the Kurdish National Council, said that before the time of the peaceful gathering, there was a terrible security alert in the designated area, and all the entrances leading to the United Nations headquarters were closed, so we were forced to change the place of the protest to the headquarters of the Kurdish National Council.
Oso added: PYD gunmen brutally attacked the demonstrators with sticks and iron, and a large number of them were seriously injured.
The head of the Kurdish National Council confirmed that the PYD administration revealed its "intimidating" nature in dealing with other opinions through its attack on the demonstrators.
Oso pointed out that the Asayish administration of the PYD came after the Revolutionary Youth militants accomplished their mission of sabotage and assaulting defenseless civilians, and investigated the incident. What is interesting is that they kidnapped all those present in the office of the Kurdish National Council instead of arresting the saboteurs.
The source revealed that Nafi Abdullah and Saleh Jamil, members of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria, and Saleh Dorsin, the brother of the kidnapped Hussam Dorsin, were injured in an attack by PYD militants with sticks and clubs on the peaceful gathering of the Kurdish National Council.
The source also added that as a result of the attack of Revolutionary Youth on the demonstration, a number of protesters were seriously injured, requiring their transfer to the hospital to receive treatment.
The source also confirmed that the militants of Revolutionary Youth threw sound bombs on the Al-Siyahi street opposite the United Nations headquarters in Qamishlo city, in order to prevent the Kurdish National Council from organizing the demonstration.
The source noted that PYD militants were not satisfied with throwing sound bombs to prevent the Kurdish National Council from organizing its activities, as they closed all roads leading to the Al-Siyahi road “in front of the United Nations headquarters,” the place designated by the Kurdish National Council to organize the peaceful gathering.
Furthermore, the Kurdish National Council in Syria had called for participation in a peaceful protest gathering for the release of those kidnapped by PYD militants, and against the repressive practices in the confrontations of freedom of opinion and expression on Monday in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters, at six in the evening, in Qamishlo city.
