The eleventh anniversary of the Amouda massacre at the hands of PYD militants
ARK News... Today, Thursday, June 27, 2024, marks the eleventh anniversary of the Amouda massacre committed by PYD militants against the citizens of Amouda, in Syrian Kurdistan.
On June 27, 2013, PYD gunmen opened fire on peaceful demonstrators demanding the release of some of their detainees, which led to the death of six Kurdish citizens, including elderly, youth and children.
The martyrs of the Amouda massacre are:
1. Sheikhmous Ali
2. Barzan Qirno
3. Nader Khilo
4. Aras Banko
5. Ali Randi
6. Saad Sida
Many young men were wounded when they were shot by PYD gunmen, and hundreds of the city's residents were arrested.
On the seventh anniversary of the Amuda massacre, Nouri Mahmoud, spokesman for the People’s Protection Units (YPG), admitted that they had committed the massacre and declared their full responsibility towards the people of Syrian Kurdistan.
Mahmoud said: "We acknowledge the great mistake that claimed the lives of innocent people as a result of the collision between one of our military units that was on the way back from the front and demonstrators who had gathered for the release of young activists detained by the Asayish."
The families of the Karama Amuda martyrs issued a statement confirming their conditions for reconciliation. The conditions, according to the statement, are:
1- Prosecuting the political leaders of the PYD Party at the time who made the decision and punishing them.
2- Trying and punishing the military leaders of the units at the time who carried out the crime.
3- An official and public apology in the media (read - audio - visual) to the people of Amouda in general and the families of the martyrs in particular.
The families of the martyrs said in a statement they published on the ninth anniversary of the massacre, that the crime was a planned conspiracy and a political decision.
The families of the martyrs confirmed that because the crime went without accountability and punishment, the result was that more than half of our people became immigrants or immigrants, thousands of children and youth without education, no future, we became enemy brothers, thousands of our youth fell and are still falling as martyrs here and there in an absurd, dirty, useless war. We have nothing to say about it...and what then?
Eleven years have passed since the massacre, and the criminals and killers are still free without accountability or punishment, while the families of the martyrs look to redress them and achieve justice.
