ARK News… Syrian news networks confirmed that a court affiliated with the PYD administration in the city of Hasaka issued a three-year prison sentence against a minor child on charges of insulting leaders of the "Syrian Democratic Forces."

The Syria Monitoring Network for Human Rights said that the Al-Kalasa Court affiliated with the PYD administration in the city of Hasaka, Syrian Kurdistan, sentenced the 12-year-old child, “Ali Muhammad Hamid Al-Khubail,” to three years in prison on charges of insulting leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

According to the network, the child was arrested on April 18, 2024, from the Khashman neighborhood in Hasaka Governorate. He is the nephew of the former commander of the Deir Ez-Zour Military Council, detained by the Syrian Democratic Forces, Ahmed Hamid Al-Khubail.

Although Mazloum Kobani, Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, signed an action plan with Virginia Gamba, the United Nations representative for children and armed conflict, to end and prevent the recruitment of children under the age of 18 and their use in military actions, the involvement of minors in battles and their recruitment is still continuing.

Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, said during a report entitled “Children and Armed Conflict” issued on June 3, 2024, that the Syrian Democratic Forces and parties affiliated with it recruited (462) children in the areas they control during the year 2023.
