Turkish newspaper: A security meeting was held between Turkey and the Syrian regime at the Hmeimim base

ARK News… The Turkish Al-Nour newspaper "Aydinlik" revealed the resumption of talks between the Syrian regime and Turkey, which witnessed faltering last year due to the two parties were not responding to their mutual requests.

An article in the Turkish newspaper, on June 11, 2024, stated that a meeting was held between military officials from the Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian regime at the Russian Hmeimim Air Base, southeast of Latakia. According to available information, the recent events in Idlib were discussed during the meeting.

The newspaper said that the negotiations took place the day after a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Moscow.

The newspaper added: "This was the first meeting of its kind regarding security issues on Syrian territory. It seems that Syrian-Turkish relations are becoming closer."

The newspaper indicated that the next regular meeting between the delegations of Turkey and Syria will be held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The first meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries (Russia, Syria, Iran and Turkey) was held in Moscow on May 10, 2023.
