America: The Assad regime has a long history of releasing extremist
ARK News... The United States of America confirmed that the Assad regime has been using a “tactic” since 2011 to increase the number of terrorist elements to serve its “selfish interests.”
The American Embassy in Syria said on its account on the social networking that the Assad regime has a long history of releasing as so called extremists and other terrorists from its prisons, thus, increasing the number of terrorist elements to serve the regime’s selfish interests.”
The embassy added: "The regime has used this tactic since 2011 to militarize the Syrian opposition and radicalize it, which the regime in turn uses to justify brutal repression campaigns against its citizens."
The embassy expressed the United States’ support for the release of arbitrary detainees and holding the regime accountable for more than 130,000 forcibly disappeared and detained people.
The empassy pointed out that "the regime's deliberate release of terrorists - while at the same time ignoring such international calls to release the forcibly disappeared - not only negatively affects Syria, but also affects regional and global security."
Explaining that "many of the released prisoners have joined or even led extremist groups, which undermines global efforts to combat terrorism."
The embassy concluded by saying, "The active support provided by the Assad regime to groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda confirms the sordid history of the Syrian regime as one of the first and strongest state sponsors of terrorism."
