ARK News… In condemnation of the wheat price that was set by the PYD administration for the year 2024, farmers and citizens protested in the al-Ma’amel area in Deir Ez-Zour, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces, against the decision.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that dozens of farmers, on Saturday,1/6/2024, protested against the PYD administration’s price for the price of the wheat (31) cents, in front of the Civil Council in Deir Ez-Zour in the Ma’amel area.

The Agriculture and Irrigation Authority of the PYD Administration, on May 28, 2024 said in a press conference that the wheat purchase price (31) cents will not change and the price and it will remain as specified.

Protests and sit-ins have continued since 26/05/2024, within the areas under the control of the PYD administration (Amouda - Qamishlo - Derbasiya - Raqqa) , in rejection of the purchase price of the wheat crop at a rate that is not sufficient to compensate for the costs.

The PYD administration, on Sunday, 26/05/2024,set the price of a kilo of wheat at (31) cents, that was subjected to the numerical grading system for the 2024 season, noting that in previous years the price of wheat was as follows: In 2023, it was 43 cents, and in 2022, it was 55 Cents, this is a major decline and has serious consequences for the residents of the region.
