France intends to name a street in Paris after “Peshmerga”
ARK News… In honor of the valor and courage of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces, the municipality of the French capital intends to name a street in Paris “Peshmerga”.
On the sidelines of the 44th International Conference of Francophone countries held in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Friday 24/5/2024, Omid Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, met with Anne Edalgo, Mayor of Paris.
During the meeting, Khoshnaw conveyed the greetings of Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, to the mayor of Paris, while the mayor affirmed her appreciation for the role of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The mayor of Paris announced her intention to name one of the streets of the French capital after “Peshmerga” as soon as possible, out of respect and appreciation for the role and courage of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces.
The two sides also discussed the restoration work of the historic Erbil Citadel, France’s participation in the process, and the requirements it requires, as a French delegation will visit the capital of the Kurdistan Region for this purpose.
