Washington imposes new restrictions on officials in the Syrian regime

ARK News… The US State Department announced the imposition of new restrictions on Syrian regime officials, related to their entry visas to the United States.

The ministry said in a statement that this month marks 13 years since the Assad regime began its violent suppression of peaceful protests in Syria, and that the regime has committed atrocities over the past years, including war crimes and crimes against humanity.

It added: “In December 2023, Secretary Antony Blinken announced a new visa restriction policy under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act that includes current and former Syrian government officials and other individuals believed to be responsible or “We are complicit in the oppression of Syrians, especially through violence and serious human rights violations.”

The statement explained that Blinken took steps to impose visa restrictions against 10 Syrian regime officials and members of their immediate families for their involvement in serious human rights violations.

In addition to 11 regime officials and their immediate family members who Blinken announced will be subject to visa restrictions in December 2023.

The statement stressed that America is “committed to strengthening the accountability of those involved in the suppression of Syrians and achieving justice for victims and survivors.”
