The United Nations reveals the amount of aid provided to Syrian refugees
ARK News… The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that nearly 330,000 refugees in Jordan benefit from the cash assistance provided to them, with the value reaching $72.6 million in the past year 2023.
According to a UNHCR report, Lebanon is the Arab country in which refugees benefited the most from cash assistance, after 1.36 million refugees received support worth $85.74 million, followed by Jordan in second place, then Yemen, then Iraq, then Egypt.
The newly released report confirmed that 2,823,101 million refugees, displaced persons, and members of host communities received cash assistance amounting to $243,008,028 million in the Middle East and North Africa region during the past year.
The Commission explained that 330,233 thousand refugees in Jordan received $72,641,359 million in cash aid in 2023, compared to 268,591 thousand refugees receiving $70,092 million in 2022.
The Commission said that it provided cash assistance in 16 areas of operations in the Middle East and North Africa region. Females constituted 52% of the beneficiaries of cash assistance in that region.
The Commission confirms that it has not received sufficient funding from donors to continue the current cash assistance program, which forced it to reduce the value of cash assistance starting in May 2024, that is, after the month of Ramadan, to support the largest possible number of refugee families in need, as refugee families outside the country will receive the camps received 25% less cash assistance per month than they had previously received.
