On World Civil Defense Day, the White Helmets renew their pledge to adhere to the principles of humanitarian work

ARK News… The Syrian Civil Defense published a statement on the organization’s Facebook account on the occasion of “World Civil Defense Day.”

The statement said: “After years of work, facing challenges, and sacrifices that we cannot forget, we, as the Syrian Civil Defense Foundation (White Helmets), were able to form a unique case that goes beyond the traditional concept of civil protection and civil defense agencies.”

The statement added, "The beginning was saving lives because it is the highest and greatest mission, and after the Assad regime withdrew government services from areas witnessing a popular movement and launched deadly attacks on them, the necessity of expanding the scope of our work and tasks began to increase."

It explained that the Foundation works today “in emergencies, community recovery, infrastructure support, service projects, disaster response, protection and health, removal of war remnants, and many other works that society needs.”

At the same time, we seek and work to achieve justice and hold the Assad regime accountable. The obstacles we faced were very great to build our capabilities, and to this day we work and struggle to strengthen the capabilities of this institution.”

The statement concluded by saying, “On World Civil Defense Day, we thank all Syrians for their trust in us, and we renew our pledge to adhere to the values and principles of humanitarian work, to assist our communities, secure stability for them, and work to achieve justice.”
