The Spiritual Presidency of the Droze Unitarian Muslims said in a statement on its Facebook page: “We denounce the armed and bloody actions against civilians and peaceful demonstrators who are demanding their legitimate national rights.”
The “Spiritual Presidency” of the Droze Unitarian Muslims stressed in its statement the necessity of maintaining the peacefulness of the movement, announcing that the sect’s sheikh, Hikmat Al-Hijri, accepted condolences in Barouki and appreciated the offer of condolences and solidarity from the Arab and foreign embassies that directly expressed their denunciation of this event.
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the first demonstrator was killed by Syrian regime bullets while they were dispersing the demonstration in the city of Suwayda in southern Syria, which has been witnessing a popular movement for more than 6 months against the Assad regime.
