Suwayda... The funeral of the first person killed in the popular movement in the city
ARK News… large crowds in As-Suwayda Governorate, on Thursday, 29/2/2024, mourned “Jawad al-Barouki,” the first person killed in the popular movement in the city at the hands of Syrian regime forces.
Video clips showed wide participation from the people of the governorate in the presence of the sheikhs of the Droze community, led by Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri, Sheikh Sami al-Hinnawi, and Sheikh Yusef al-Jarbou.
A number of religious and social activities, political movements from civil opposition forces, and thousands of people from the city also participated in the funeral.
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the first demonstrator was killed by Syrian regime bullets while they were dispersing the demonstration in the city of Suwayda in southern Syria, which has been witnessing a popular movement for months against the Assad regime.
