Daraa... The Syrian regime arrests a young man while returning from Jordan
ARK News… Members of the Syrian regime forces arrested a young man from the Daraa countryside while returning from Jordan, amid fears that he would be subjected to torture.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights said that the young man, “Ahmed Muhammad al-Saqr, from the city of Nawa in the western countryside of Daraa Governorate, aged 27 years, was arrested by members of the Syrian regime forces on 8/2/2024, at the Syrian-Jordanian border (Nasib border crossing), During his return to Syria from Jordan, he was taken to its military intelligence branch in the city of Daraa.”
It added, "The arrest was not carried out through a legal arrest warrant issued by a court, nor was any of his family informed of his arrest. His phone was confiscated and he was prevented from communicating with his family or his lawyer."
The Syrian Network expressed its fear that he would be subjected to torture, and that he would be forcibly disappeared, like 85% of all detainees.
It called for compensation for the victims and their families financially and morally, and for an end to all arbitrary detentions aimed at spreading terror among members of society and blackmailing families. It also called for revealing the fate of thousands of people forcibly disappeared by Syrian regime forces.
