Washington: The Syrian regime must change its behavior
ARK News… US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, responsible for the Syrian file, Ethan Goldrich, confirmed that his country still supports International Resolution 2254 for a solution in Syria.
Goldrich stressed the need for the Syrian regime to return to the meetings of the Constitutional Committee, pointing out that Washington will not normalize relations with the regime and will not ease its sanctions in the absence of a political solution, while committing to strengthening justice and accountability for violations, noting that the United States shares many goals with Arab partners regarding Syria.
The American official explained that the American administration’s mission is not to try to change the Assad regime, but that the latter must “change its behavior.”
