ARK News… The French Ambassador to Syria stressed the need for the Syrian regime to make valuable concessions to reach a political solution in the country, noting that the regime's intransigence has brought attempts at normalization with it to a dead end.

During an interview with Al Jazeera, the French Ambassador to Syria, Brigitte Cormi, ruled out offering "free gifts to the Syrian regime, which has lacked a sincere will to resolve the conflict."

Cormi pointed out that the initiatives of Arab countries to normalize relations with the regime by returning it to the Arab League, in addition to attempts at rapprochement between Ankara and Damascus, have all reached a dead end.

The French ambassador stressed that her country's position towards the Syrian regime has not changed, and that there can be no normalization, lifting of sanctions, or reconstruction without a comprehensive and credible political process, which means the need for the Syrian regime to make concrete concessions, stressing that the conflict cannot be resolved militarily.
