“Ahrar Houran”: Documenting 506 deaths in Daraa during the past year
ARK News… The Ahrar Houran Gathering presented its annual report in Daraa Governorate for the year 2023 under the title “Continuous Bleeding,” and included detailed statistics of the victims, including those killed, detained, and kidnapped.
The report said that the security services and military forces of the Syrian regime and ISIS played a major role in the deaths through systematic assassination operations and various methods.
The regime's agencies also played a clear role in violating the settlement agreements "through siege operations on some cities and towns in Daraa, and carrying out random and arbitrary arrests against many people in the governorate."
According to the report, the total number of deaths in Daraa Governorate during the year 2023 reached 506, including 278 civilians.
The details stated that 118 civilians were killed as a result of assassinations in Daraa Governorate, 19 civilians were killed as a result of torture in Syrian regime detention centers, and 15 civilians were killed as a result of war remnants.
“5 civilians were killed by Syrian regime forces, 5 during assassination operations (they were not a direct target), 3 by local groups who previously worked within the opposition factions, 2 civilians by bullets from the Eighth Brigade, and a civilian by stray bullets as a result of clashes between the Eighth Brigade and an armed group,” he added. The office of the Ahrar Houran Gathering documented 402 operations and assassination attempts, “resulting in the killing of 278 people out of the total number of deaths, distributed among 118 civilian deaths and 160 non-civilian deaths.”
The number of kidnapping cases in Daraa Governorate during the year 2023 reached 126 kidnapping cases. 91 kidnapped persons were released out of the total number of kidnapped persons, while 29 kidnapped persons were killed, and there are still 6 whose fate is unknown.
It turned out that at least 45 of the total number of kidnapped persons were “kidnapped by groups supported by the Syrian regime’s security services.”
