Jamous confirms the Negotiating Committee's readiness for a political solution in Syria in accordance with international resolutions
ARK News… Badr Jamous, head of the Syrian Negotiating Committee, welcomed the statement issued by the seventh meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council, which calls on the Syrian regime to begin “serious steps to address the Syrian issue from its roots.”
Badr Jamous said in a statement published on his official Facebook page: “We in the negotiating body confirm our readiness for a political solution in accordance with international resolutions, most notably the Geneva Statement, and the implementation of the full provisions of Resolution 2254 in a way that guarantees the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their homes.”
He added: "We look forward to a Gulf and Arab position that pressures the Syrian regime to engage in a serious political process according to a timetable that leads to a just and comprehensive solution to the Syrian issue."
The seventh meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council was held on Tuesday, December 5, under the chairmanship of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha.
In a statement issued by the meeting, the two sides stressed "the importance of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Syrian crisis that ends all its repercussions, contributes to the safe voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their country, and preserves the unity and territorial integrity of Syria."
They expressed their hope that the Syrian regime would take "serious steps to address the roots of this crisis, in a way that supports Syria's stability, unity and territorial integrity."
