ARK News… Ahead of the Turkish municipal elections scheduled to be held in March 2024, the Turkish Ministry of Interior revealed the latest statistics of Syrians holding exceptional Turkish citizenship.

In a speech before the Turkish Parliament, Ali Yerli Kaya, the Turkish Minister of the Interior, said that out of 3 million, 254,904 Syrians residing in Turkey under the temporary protection clause, 237,995 Syrians obtained exceptional Turkish citizenship.

Ali Yerli Kaya added: Among the naturalized Syrians, 156,987 people have reached the age of 18, which qualifies them to participate in the upcoming municipal elections.

Comparing the numbers of “exceptional” naturalized persons with a statistic issued in April 2023, their number increased by about 8,000, which means that about 1,330 Syrian people obtain exceptional citizenship per month according to the announced numbers.
