ARK News… A Syrian refugee child died after being injured while working in a factory in Konya, Turkey.

According to Syrian media websites, “The Syrian child, Muhammad Dhiyaa Bahloul, from the town of Kurin in the Idlib countryside, died after being injured by one of the machines of a factory he worked in in the Turkish state of Konya, on Sunday, November 5, 2023.”

The Turkish Workers Health and Safety Council previously revealed the number of deaths in work accidents among workers in Turkey during the year 2023, including 75 immigrants and refugees, including 29 Syrians.

Turkey's Labor Law No. 4 and 857 categorically prohibits the work of children under 15 years of age and provides children between 15 and 18 years of age with the opportunity to work outside school time, such as summer vacations, while imposing working conditions and types of work appropriate for this age group, but the number of children working in The various sectors are increasing, especially after the earthquake last February.

According to non-human rights organizations specialized in labor issues, including the Occupational Safety and Health Council, the number of minor children in the labor market in Turkey is about 2 million, including about 300,000 Syrian refugee children.

Human rights activist Taha Al-Ghazi stated to the “Arab TV” website earlier that the number of children working in the labor market in Turkey, according to statistics from the Occupational Safety and Health Council, has reached 2 million children. He says that the number rises in the summer to approximately 5 million children, and children are among them. About 30% are Syrians, adding that the Council indicated that nearly 600 refugee children lost their lives in the workplace during the last ten years.
