ARK News… The World Health Organization confirmed that dozens of countries, including Syria, have witnessed an outbreak of cholera, and what is most worrying is the outbreak of the disease with the arrival of the rainy season, which helps the disease spread rapidly.

Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, said that more than 31 countries, including Syria, have witnessed an outbreak of cholera, which puts about a billion people at risk after 582,000 people have been infected since the beginning of the year, and 4,500 others have died as a result of the infection, according to TASS.

Ghebreyesus added that what is most worrying is the outbreak of cholera in Syria, Sudan and some African countries, especially with the arrival of the rainy season, which helps the disease spread rapidly.

Cholera is a bacterial disease spread through contaminated water. It causes severe diarrhea. It takes a period ranging from 12 hours to 5 days for symptoms to appear on a person. It affects children and adults alike and can kill them within hours if not treated.
