America calls on Turkey to stop the escalation in northern Syria
ARK News… The US Secretary of Defense called on Turkey to stop the escalation in northern Syria, and stressed the importance of maintaining strict adherence to conflict prevention protocols.
A statement by the US Department of Defense said that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke by phone with his Turkish counterpart, Yashar Gul, and they discussed “national security issues and defense-related issues of common interest.”
The US Department of Defense statement added that Austin urged stopping the escalation in northern Syria, the importance of maintaining strict adherence to conflict prevention protocols, and communicating through existing military channels.
The American Minister stressed the commitment to close coordination between the United States and Turkey to prevent any threat to American forces, or the mission of the international coalition to defeat ISIS in northeastern Syria.
