Pedersen will visit Syria next week
ARK News... The UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, intends to go to Syria, next week, on a two-day visit.
Al-Watan newspaper, which is loyal to the Syrian regime, said that Pedersen will arrive in Damascus on the ninth of this month, "September," with the aim of meeting with Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad, the co-chair of the committee to discuss amending the constitution Ahmed Al-Kuzbari, the Russian ambassador to Damascus Alexander Yefimov, and the Iranian ambassador to Syria Hussain Akbari.
It explained that the UN envoy is supposed to discuss the possibility of setting a date for the ninth round of the Constitution Discussion Committee, after the participants in the Arab Liaison Committee agreed to hold the next meeting of the Constitutional Committee in the Sultanate of Oman, with facilitation and coordination with the United Nations, before the end of this year.
