President Barzani: The people of Kurdistan had a strong will, and the criminals paid the price for their crimes

ARK News… President Masoud Barzani, today, Friday, August 25, 2023, issued a message recalling the thirty-fifth anniversary of Anfal in the Badinan region.

The following is the text of the message:

In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful.

During the series of crimes and genocides in the last century that were committed against the Faili Kurds and our people in Barzan, Garmiyan, Halabja and other areas, and 35 years ago, the former Iraqi regime and in the last stage of the Anfal operation and the chemical bombardment of most areas of Badinan, the former Iraqi regime committed campaigns of arrest, disappearance and deportation against the residents of those areas.

The Iraqi government has used hundreds of thousands of soldiers and lethal weapons against the innocent population of Badinan, and the aim of this action was to break the revolutionary will of the people of Badinan, but the people of Kurdistan had a strong will and never surrendered to the enemy's crimes and persecution, and it was the enemies and criminals who paid the price for their mistakes and crimes This is a great lesson for our future generations and for the enemies of the Kurdish people.

On the anniversary of Badinan Anfal, we bow in respect and honor to the pure souls of Badinan Anfal and all the martyrs and Anfal in Kurdistan, and we renew our demand from the federal government to compensate those affected by the genocide, crimes and injustice committed against our nation.
