The United Nations obliges the Syrian regime to fulfill its responsibilities to respect and protect human rights
ARK News… The Human Rights Council adopted a resolution calling on the Syrian regime to abide by its responsibilities towards respecting and protecting the human rights of all persons within its jurisdiction and in line with the Syrian regime's obligations under international law.
The resolution was adopted, on Thursday, within the activities of the fifty-third session of the United Nations Council in Geneva.
The resolution called on the Syrian regime to protect returning refugees and displaced persons from human rights violations, and to help create conditions conducive to the return of refugees.
He added that the property recovery operations required by the authorities, especially the Syrian regime, must be consistent with the principles of recovering property and housing facilities for refugees and displaced persons, provided that they take into account equality, especially with regard to women.
The resolution urged all parties to release the forcibly disappeared persons in Syria and to provide accurate information to the families of the missing regarding their fate and whereabouts.
He called on all parties to the conflict to deal more effectively with sexual and gender-based violence across Syria.
The resolution denounced the restrictions imposed on journalists and civil society in Syria, calling on all parties to respect the human rights of all, including the right to life, liberty, personal security, and the right to expression, peaceful assembly, and movement.
