Civil Defense: 8 fires in northwestern Syria

ARK News…On Thursday, 8 fires broke out in northwestern Syria, coinciding with the arrival of clouds of smoke resulting from forest fires in the Latakia Mountains, covering large areas of the countryside of Hama and Idlib.

The Syrian Civil Defense Directorate reported that fires have renewed in the forests surrounding the Khirbet al-Joz area, west of Idlib, for the second day in a row, in addition to the outbreak of 3 new forest fires in the village of Saad Saud and the village of Gawerko (Al Nasirah) in the western countryside of Idlib as well.

The White Helmets added, in a post on Facebook, that another fire broke out in Jenderes town in the countryside of Afrin, north of Aleppo, and a fire also broke out in a gathering of firewood in the village of Meles, south of Idlib, and another in the remains of harvesting agricultural land in the vicinity of the city of Jisr al-Shighour, in addition to a prolonged fire withered grass near random tents in Qorqanya, north of Idlib.

The White Helmets explained that the Syrian Civil Defense teams were able to control the last fire before it reached the tents, and also put out and cooled some fires, noting that the losses are only material.
