Lebanon refuses to deport the Syrian opponents to the areas controlled by the regime
ARK News... The Minister of the Displaced in the Lebanese caretaker government, Isam Sharafuddin, revealed that his government will not deport the opposition Syrian refugees, nor will they be subject to forcible deportation to Syria.
The Lebanese minister indicated that political refugees, according to international norms and agreements between Lebanon and the UNHCR, are deported to a third country, based on the asylum request submitted by the political refugee.
Sharafuddin pointed out that if a refugee wants to benefit from a presidential amnesty in Syria, this matter is open to discussion and Lebanon can help in it.
He explained that the search is continuing with the UNHCR, regarding the possibility of providing aid to refugees inside Syria instead of Lebanon, especially since there is an international trend towards supporting Syria and seriously moving the return of the displaced.
