Jeffrey DeLaurentis calls on the Syrian regime to resume meetings of the Constitutional Committee and participate in good faith
ARK News... During the Security Council session, Jeffrey DeLaurentis, the US Deputy Representative to the United Nations, called on the Assad regime to resume the meetings of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva, and to participate in them in good faith.
DeLaurentis expressed the United States' concern about the military escalation in northwestern Syria, and said that the Syrian people do not need more violence, but rather constructive dialogue, and pointed out that the current conditions are still not conducive to the safe, voluntary and dignified return of refugees.
The US official called for extending the authorization for the delivery of humanitarian aid to northwestern Syria across the borders from the Bab al-Hawa, Bab al-Salama and al-Rai crossings for a period of 12 months.
