ARK News… An official in the US administration said that the White House has made its decision to provide Ukraine with "Abrams" tanks and that the official announcement may come on Wednesday.

In statements to the Al-Jazeera satellite channel, the US official said that after this decision is made, tanks will not be provided from the Pentagon's stocks, but rather they will be purchased.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that the US administration is moving towards supplying Ukraine with American M1 Abrams tanks and that the announcement of supplies may take place this week, but US officials have not yet made their decision.

The newspaper pointed out that this step may be part of a diplomatic understanding between the United States and Germany to encourage the latter to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine or to allow other countries such as Poland to provide Kyiv with tanks of this type.

For her part, the White House press secretary, Karen Jean-Pierre, said: "Officials in the US Department of Defense have never ruled out tanks... There have always been difficulties with tanks, but they have never been removed from consideration."

On the other hand, the German government decided to supply Ukraine with Leopard A62 tanks, which are part of the current German forces' armament, according to the German newspaper "Der Spiegel".
