German Foreign Minister: Sanctions on Iran will also include the moral police

ARK News… Sweden's Foreign Minister Anne Lindy on Monday said that European Union foreign ministers had adopted new sanctions against Iranian individuals and entities responsible for "grave violations" of human rights.

The minister stated through her account on Twitter that the foreign ministers of the Union meeting in Luxembourg discussed what she described as the "dangerous" situation in Iran and the practice of "lethal" violence against protesters in the country, expressing strong support for the right to peaceful protest.

In addition, German Foreign Minister Annalina Birbock said that the new European Union sanctions against Iran due to a crackdown on demonstrators would include blacklisting the morality police among other entities.

"We will impose an additional package of sanctions today to hold accountable those responsible for brutal crimes against women, youth, and men," she told reporters upon arriving for a meeting with her EU counterparts in Luxembourg.

"Among those on the list are the so-called morality police," she said.

After her arrest, dozens of people were killed and injured in protests in different parts of Iran for several weeks, amid accusations by the police of killing Jina Amini, for allegedly wearing a headscarf inappropriately.

Iranian authorities deny that Amini was beaten by police.

It is noteworthy that since Amini's death on September 16 (2022), three days after her arrest by the morality police, and then transfer to a hospital in Tehran, the demonstrations did not subside in the country.

Since her death has ignited anger over several issues, including restrictions on personal liberties and strict rules regarding women's dress, as well as the living and economic crisis facing Iranians, not to mention the strict rules imposed by the regime and its political structure in general.
