ARK News... The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, estimated that the number of Syrians living below the poverty line is more than 90% of the total population of Syria.

He pointed out that many of them are forced to make very difficult choices to cover their expenses. And that in a speech he delivered at the Security Council.

The UN official said that in addition to the increasing poverty, the water crisis and the deterioration of food security, the population in Syria is also facing the re-emergence of cases of the Coronavirus.

Griffiths added that the Syrians are about to face another severe winter, noting that rain, cold, and winter will exacerbate difficulties and risks.

He pointed out that there are about two million people - most of them women and children - living in fragile camps, in flooded valleys, or on the slopes of rocky hills exposed to weather factors.
