Kurdistan Region Security: "PKK and a group of smugglers took advantage of the issue of immigrants to abuse the region
ARK News... The Kurdistan Region Security Council, on Sunday, confirmed the existence of "opposing parties" such as the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a group of smugglers, some tourism companies, and political dealers who have exploited the issue of immigrants in Belarus to offend the region, noting that no person from the Kurdistan Region had to travel because of political problems or because of the neutralization of personal freedom.
And the Security Council of the Region said in a statement: "Recently, the phenomenon of migration has returned to Western countries again, as a number of citizens of the Kurdistan Region went to Belarus in order to obtain asylum in Western countries."
The statement continued, "A part of these citizens was exploited by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a group of smugglers, some tourism companies and political dealers who presented various excuses and accusations against the Kurdistan Region in order to strengthen their admission files in those countries."
The council said, "The Kurdistan region has become a safe haven for coexistence and individual freedom, and therefore a large number of foreigners, neighboring countries and other regions of Iraq went to it and benefited from the safety climate in the region as a place to reside and stay, and to have better opportunities to live." Pointing out that "the Kurdistan Region is witnessing great progress and has become a place for many people to visit from outside, which has contributed to creating many job opportunities and the people of the region have also benefited from this development."
The statement indicated that "the citizens who are now stranded in Belarus spent huge amounts of money and traveled through legal ways to reach those countries, and from there they were able to cross to other countries." Stressing that "any person from the Kurdistan Region did not have to travel because of political problems or because of the neutralization of personal freedom, but rather they traveled to those countries freely, and if there was no freedom for the individual, they would not be able to travel legally through airports and border crossings,” he explained, explaining that “the Council supports the legal and constitutional rights of any person to travel.”
He explained, "All these accusations and slander against the Kurdistan Region in order to obtain asylum is not true."
According to the statement, the council demanded that "from a humanitarian aspect, attention should be paid to the conditions of these citizens who are stuck between the borders of states, and that the citizens of the region do not become victims of international problems, and that no one trade in this issue."
