A Statement on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the bombing of Halabja city with chemical weapons
ARK News…. On this day, March 16, 1988, a mass massacre was committed against the people of Halabja and the surrounding villages in Iraqi Kurdistan, by the defunct Baathist regime in Iraq, which was part of the genocide policy against the sons of the people of Kurdistan, which claimed the lives of more than five thousand martyrs and wounded about ten thousand others, most were children and women, and this attack is the most dangerous chemical attacks that targeted Kurdish civilians, and which used a mixture of mustard gas, toxic cyanide, and a mixture of nerve paralysis gases. It was astonished by the horror of all humanity and shook the conscience of the world, in a hideous form of injustice, injustice, and persecution committed against the Kurdish people.
The Kurdish National Council in Syria, while condemning this crime, joins the calls for adopting the 16th of March every year as the International Day for Prohibition and Combating Chemical Weapons, the Council also call on the people of Kurdistan to make this painful memory an incentive to close ranks and face the challenges and preserve the gains achieved by the wise leadership in the Kurdistan Region and also calls on our people everywhere and their partners in the fate to stand for five minutes in mourning for the souls of the martyrs of Halabja, with regard to this from eleven o'clock in the morning on the sixteenth of March in front of homes, shops and streets.
Glory and eternity to the martyrs of the Halabja massacre and the martyrs of freedom everywhere
