ARK News… James Jeffrey, the United States' Special Representative for Syria and the Special Envoy for the International Coalition Against ISIS, appreciated the role and position of President Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government in bringing together the Kurdish parties in Syrian Kurdistan, during a meeting between him and Masrour Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

Masrour Barzani said in a statement read by ARK: We have received an American delegation headed by Ambassador James Jeffrey, the United States' Special Representative for Syria and the Special Envoy for the International Coalition Against ISIS.

He added: During the meeting, we discussed the latest developments and changes in Iraq and Syria and the importance of providing support and assistance to the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army in order to address the threats posed by ISIS.

For his part, Ambassador James Jeffrey appreciated the role and position of President Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government in bringing the Kurdish parties together in western Kurdistan, and emphasized the continued support of the United States for the Kurdistan Region and said, "The Kurdistan Region enjoys an important and strategic position in the Middle East due to its plurality, diversity, vitality, and ties. The friendship that brings it with America and the countries of the West.

He also pointed out: In addition to thanking the United States, we shed light on the current situation in Iraq and the region and the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.

Masrour Barzani continued in his statement: We also indicated during the meeting the continuation of talks with Baghdad, which aim to reach a radical solution to the outstanding problems in accordance with the foundations of the constitution, and we stressed the need to continue security coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army, specifically in the Kurdish regions outside the administration of the region to confront ISIS threats.

Masrour Barzani concluded in his statement: We have expressed our deep concern about the continuation of the policy of Arabization and the assault on the property and lands of Kurdish citizens in those areas.
