Spokesperson: KRG Denounces Killing of Civilians as Result of Turkey-PKK Clash
ARK News.. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has denounced the recent clashes between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on its territories which resulted in the death of at least four civilians on Friday, said KRG Spokesperson Jotyar Adil.
“We are monitoring today’s incidents and the ones in the past few days in the border areas with great concern, which have resulted in casualties and material damages to the civilian residents of the villages in these areas,” Adil said in a statement.
“The Kurdistan Regional Government condemns killing and harming the civilians by whoever and under any excuse.”
KRG spokesperson also urged Turkey to respect the territorial sovereignty and, meanwhile, renewed a call on PKK to leave these areas and avoid attracting further conflicts to the civilian-populated border areas.
“The Kurdistan Regional Government seeks friendly relations with its neighbors, and it does not want its territories to be used for attacks on the neighboring countries.”
Earlier this week, Turkey announced Operation Claw-Tiger against the PKK in Kurdistan Region border areas. However, its airstrikes have so far killed five civilians in Erbil and Duhok provinces.
