Kurdistan President and Trump to Meet in Davos

ARK News: Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani is expected to meet with his US counterpart Donald Trump in Davos, Switzerland, this week.

Barzani's office said in a statement on Sunday that the Kurdish president, who will attend this year's World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, will discuss the recent developments in the region with the US top official.

He will also meet with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and several other world leaders during the three-day forum, the statement added.

Barzani with Trump and other world leaders will exchange views on the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the international community as well as other topics pertaining to the regional affairs.

"On the sidelines of the summit, President Nechirvan Barzani will hold meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump and the United Nations’ Secretary General Antonio Guterres. The President is also expected to meet with a number of other world leaders, ministers and high ranking officials," reads the statement.

"In the meetings, the President is expected to focus on strengthening Kurdistan Region’s relations with the international community and to convey the policies and position of Kurdistan Region on regional and world affairs."

Barzani, on the sidelines of the forum, will also deliver a speech on a panel, "titled “An Unsettled Middle East.” In his address, the President will speak about the enduring impact of continuous unrest and crises in the Middle East, which have caused deep fear and concern around the world and in the region"
