US Secretary of Defense: We have taken offensive measures against a group sponsored by Iran
ARK News: US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said, on Monday, December 30, 2019, that the United States has taken offensive measures against a group sponsored by Iran.
"The attacks were successful and officials discussed other options with President Trump," Esper added, according to Reuters.
In this regard, the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, said, "We will not stand idly by the measures that are taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which would endanger American men and women."
US warplanes bombed, on Sunday evening, December 29, locations of the Popular Mobilization Hashd Al Shaabi in al-Qaim Province on the Iraqi-Syrian border, killing many gunmen, including a senior official, and wounding 30 militias.
"In response to Hezbollah's repeated attacks on Iraqi bases hosting the coalition forces, American forces have launched accurate defensive strikes against its 5 facilities in Iraq and Syria," Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement on the ministry's official website.
