Statement by the Kurdish National Council on the settlement of Idlib IDPs in Afrin

ARK News: the General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, on Friday, issued a statement on the settlement of armed factions for the displaced from Idlib in the Kurdish villages of Afrin. The secretariat said: It is a continuation of their demographic change against the historic Kurdish presence there.

ARK Media Foundation received a copy of the statement stating:

The intensity of the military operations launched by the Syrian regime forces and its allies in the southern countryside of Idlib increased day by day and during the past months, and the number of victims and tens of thousands of people displaced from their homes in villages and towns affected increased by the bombing, and amid the ongoing armed groups that turned their backs on the people of Idlib and left them for their tragic fate, and are working now to resettle these IDPs from the Idlib areas in the villages of Afrin to complete their demographic process of change against the historic Kurdish presence there, which is preventing the indigenous people of the region from returning to their homes.

The Kurdish National Council, while condemned and is condemning the targeting of civilians by any party and strongly condemns the exploitation of the suffering of the displaced by some of those factions and armed groups and using them to implement their plans to sow discord among the tormented sons of Syria and to persist in opposing the Kurdish people and practicing all forms of crimes and inhuman violations against them. The Council calls on the international community and relevant countries to reject resettlement and demographic change in the villages and towns of forcibly displaced persons from the Kurds and in any region of the country, stop military operations, protect civilians in their homes, and provide safety requirements for them, and also calls for activating the political process to end the tragedy of all Syrians and achieve peace and security in Syria which is a federal democracy for all Syrians.
