Kurdish Forces' Withdrawal from Syrian-Turkish Border Completed: Russia
ARK News: Russia has said that the withdrawal of the Kurdish forces from the Syrian-Turkish border has been completed.
"We continue to implement the memorandum of October 22 focusing on the area east of the Euphrates River in conjunction with Ankara," Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for Russian Foreign Ministry, said at a press conference on Thursday.
She further added that Moscow's aim is to put an end to the military confrontations between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Turkish army.
"To resolve the first problem, the Kurdish units were withdrawn from the border with Turkey, regular joint patrols were established, a demilitarized zone was created along the perimeter of the Operation Peace Spring, and a Russian-Turkish coordination center is now operational," the spokesperson said.
Turkey began an offensive against the Kurdish fighters in northeastern Syria in early October, but it later halted after reaching two separate ceasefire agreements with Russia and the US.
