Militias of armed factions continue to cut down forests and olive trees

ARK News: A Human Rights Organization working to document violations in the Kurdish region of Afrin reported on its main page of Facebook today, 2.12.2019, that militias of armed groups affiliated to Turkey continue by cracking down on Kurdish citizens in the Kurdish region of Afrin and the implementation of the political and military agendas in terms of the ethnic cleansing of Kurds and forcing residents to leave in order to make a demographic change ,and by cutting down forests and olive trees belonging to the fields of the Kurds.

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin said that with the except that those militias carrying out the operation of theft and looting and armed robbery and indiscriminate kidnapping, and seizure of property of residents and logging olive trees, and deliberately under the supervision of the Turkish intelligence through creating an atmosphere of intimidation, terror, and insecurity and instability (creating chaos) by carrying out artificial explosions in order to displace the remaining on the one hand and liquidate some faction leaders on the other.

The Organization said today that in spite of the decisions issued by the local councils in the Afrin area regarding logging and the attempt of the local council of the city of Afrin (Agricultural Office) to plant the forest Zaidia on 12/11/2019 under the slogan "No to cut Yes to plant trees" in the presence of a number of officials, but leaders the factions and their armed militias, as well as the settlers, are not covered by the previous resolutions.

The organization confirmed in its report today, saying: According to what was recorded in the weekly statistics only from 25/11/2019 to 01/12/2019, 52 trucks loaded with firewood crossed the two checkpoints located in the town of Kafarjanna according to one of our sources of armed elements at the checkpoint (Civil Police – Al-Shamiya Front) without inquiring about its origin or destination.

The organization also said that a number of these cars carry licenses and military missions sealed with the seals of the leaders of the armed factions "armed militias" to allow them to cross those cars loaded with firewood to sell it in other places that were cut from the forests and fields of olive trees belonging to the Kurds without a human or moral deterrent.

It is worth mentioning that since the invasion of the Turkish army and the armed factions and groups Afrin region, kidnappings campaigns against Kurdish civilians continue with false pretexts, in addition to cutting down olive and forest trees for selling firewood.
