Pederson declares the failure of the Syrian Constitutional Committee parties to reach an agreement
ARK News: UN Special Envoy for Syria, Ger Pederson, held a press conference on Friday, November 29, 2019, in which he announced the failure of the Syrian Constitutional Committee to reach an agreement on the agenda.
Pederson revealed that he continued to "hold several meetings with the parties during the days of consultations in an attempt to reach a consensus (on the agenda), but this did not happen," hoping to overcome obstacles in preparation for the next round.
Speaking to reporters, Pedersen said he was "following with interest what is happening in northeastern Syria and supporting the ceasefire," stressing the need to maintain the "unity and territorial integrity of Syria."
The UN envoy pointed out that the most important thing now is "to protect the Constitutional Commission and continue to work in the same spirit that prevailed, a spirit of consensus."
