ARK News: In response to the statements made by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a Syrian Kurdish leader confirmed on Saturday, that the attempt to falsify history and demographic reality and distort and mislead the facts does not benefit the efforts of a political solution to the Syrian crisis, indicating that the proportion of Kurds constitute 15% of the population of the country.

Shallal Kaddo, Secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Left Party in Syria (a party of the Kurdish National Council) and a member of the political body of the opposition Syrian National Coalition, “recent statements by the President of the Syrian regime on the Kurds were not surprising, as he repeated the hateful racist rhetoric that does not recognize the other ethnically, culturally and religiously different”.

Adding that “these statements reflected the regime's ignorance of the reasons that led Syria to this catastrophe, which afflicted Syrians with their various affiliations and national, religious and sectarian components, as a result of the oppression, harassment and murder of its organs since the beginning of the Syrian revolution to this day , which led to the destruction of the country and the killing and displacement of millions of people and the collapse of the state at various levels despite the support of Russia, Iran and others to the regime”.

"The regime's approach to solving the just Kurdish issue in the country is still captive to its abhorrent past , which became part of history, pointing out that «Kurds make up more than 15 percent of the population of the country, and live on their historical land, contrary to what was said to be living in Syria for decades, ”Kaddo said.

He said: “The attempt to falsify history and demographic reality and distort and mislead the facts does not benefit the efforts of a political solution to the Syrian crisis, which the international community insists on going through the launch of the work of the drafting of a new constitution for the future of Syria, where everyone has the right to his right, especially the Kurds, who are the second-largest nation in the country”.

He pointed out that “the attempt to reduce the issue of the Kurdish people with cultural rights and compared to the amputated rights granted to the Armenian brothers according to the size of the Baath and discriminatory ideology sick not successful, being the fact that this issue has taken a great international dimension, and is discussed at the highest levels in various corridors of the countries of the world”.

Kaddo stressed that “the form of solving the Kurdish issue and its eligibility and justice as well as the proportion of the population of the Kurds in Syrian Kurdistan Syr, emerged from under the cloak of the regime and the grip of misleading media, which distorted the facts for half a century”.

The Kurdish leader pointed out that “the proportion of Kurds in their areas from Afrin to Derik is more than eighty percent, which has been attached to their regions of three provinces as a result of administrative divisions in the country are (Aleppo, Raqqa and Hasaka)”.

The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has denied in an interview on Friday the presence of Western Kurdistan (Syrian Kurdistan) mainly, saying that this region (north and east of Syria) is Arabs and that the Kurdish presence in Syria is due for “decades” and there are no problems with them.
