Eight years later, the statue of Hafez Assad and his son is still in the center of Qamishlo
Eight years after the start of the Syrian crisis, the statue of the former regime president Hafez Assad and the statue of his son Basel Assad are still in the city center of Qamishlo in Syrian Kurdistan.
Of the very few in Syria and the eastern and northern regions in Syria, Hafez Assad and his son Basel Assad are still in the center of the city before the year 2011, although the Assad’s statue and his images were destroyed in most Syrian cities and towns.
The Baath Party of the Syrian regime and the parties loyal to it are still continued on its activities and work in Qamishlo in Syrian Kurdistan, , while the Democratic Union Party closed dozens of offices of parties and opposition parties such as the offices of the Kurdish National Council in Syria and the offices of its parties and organizations.
