Afrin … Armed militias cut forests for trading and selling firewood

ARK News: A Human Rights Organization working to document violations in the Kurdish region of Afrin said today 29/6/2019 that armed militias for nearly five months and until today have been operating the settlers with them with a daily fee to cut forest trees in many villages of Shara town for trading and selling firewood.

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin said that for nearly five months and until today, the armed militias have been operating the settlers with them on a daily fees to cut down forest trees in the following villages (Omara - Shara - Barava) with average of 20 tractor trailers a week and collecting them in the town of Shara next to the house of the settler Abu Zaid al-Homsi, who seized the house of Nori Khalo and cut woods for trading and selling the firewood

The Organization mentioned in its report that most of the forests surrounding these villages have turned into mountains and barren hills in front of Turkish troops, civilian and military police, and local council members without alerting, warning or accusation to them or put an end to these violations against Afrin region.

It is worth mentioning that violations by the armed factions loyal to the Turkish army against civilians in Afrin region continue from taxes, kidnappings, ransom, burning forests for firewood, and accusing the Kurds of extorting them financially to reach a comprehensive demographic change after forcing the Kurds to leave their homes.
